Skateboard and BMX practitioners in Fuengirola could have a custom-built park by the end of this year.
The Council is investing around 600,000 to create an area where skateboard and BMX fans can pracice their sport, and in safety.
The company Trigemer has been awarded the contract and the completion period for the project has been set at three months.
The idea is to build a park on a 5,828 square metre plot of land between calle San Cayetano and calle Virgen del Rosario, opposite the Miramar shopping centre, with an area of 1,790 square metres being dedicated to skateboarders and BMXers. The rest of the area will be gardens where locals can enjoy a quiet, relaxing afternoon.
The skate park will have, amongst other things, ‘halfpipes’ and ‘bowls’ of varying degrees of difficulty. Also to be constructed in this area is a wall, 53 metres long and 2.2 metres high, where afficionados can express themselves through urban art (a grafitti wall, in other words!).
Despite the construction of the skate area, the site will not lose its classification as a ‘green’ area.
