The number of people visiting the Nerja Caves during the first half of 2008 fell by 4.35%, although it remains the most visited place in Málaga province.
The economic situation and a general downward trend in the number of people visiting the Costa del Sol has seen the number of visitors to the Nerja Caves drop by 4.35% in the first six months of this year. The manager of the Nerja Caves, Ángel Ramírez, said that the fall was understandable and reflected the general trend in tourism along the Costa del Sol.
The Nerja Caves, however, remain the most popular attraction in Málaga province ahead of the Bullfighting Museum in Ronda, the Picasso Museum in Málaga and the Roman Theatre in Málaga.
Incidentally, during the period 2001 to 2007, there has only been one year when the number of visitors to the Nerja Caves actuall rose, that was in 2006. see also Nerja Caves Visitors
