The Department of Beaches in Vélez-Málaga has introduced a bracelet system this summer to help reunite ‘lost’ children with their families.
The idea is that each beach will have its own colour code and the bracelets will contain the name of the child and a contact telephone number. In the event of a child wandering off and getting lost, the authorities will be more easily able to reunite them with their family.
Around 4,000 bracelets are being distributed along the various beaches in the municipality. The system was implemented last summer by the Red Cross on several beaches in Spain with great success, some 26,000 bracelets being distributed.
