A Málaga taxi driver has been given a ticket by Local Police for wearing ‘pirate’ trousers.
The taxi driver had stopped to let his passenger out when a policeman approached and asked to see his licence and other documents. He was then informed he was going to be given a ticket for wearing ‘pirate’ trousers.
Article 41 of the Municipal Ordinance requires that all drivers of municipally licensed vehicles be neat and tidy with upper body clothing having long or short sleeves and lower body clothing being long trousers or a skirt.
The taxi driver said he knew the rules yet decided to wear the pirates as it was so hot at the moment. He was very surprised to find himself getting a ticket. The penalty for the infringement varies from a ‘warning’ to a fine of up to €276.47…..what a strange amount….
Presumably he would have been OK if he had decided to wear a skirt instead!
Incidentally, under Article 47 of the Municipal Ordinance, taxi drivers are required to be polite and well-mannered and if their passengers are elderly, disabled or accompanied by children, they must assist them to enter and exit the vehicle.
