This coming week should see a decision by Vélez-Málaga Council on measures to control noise pollution in the municipality.
The government team are expected to meet on Tuesday with technicians and Local Police to sort out the whole question of noise levels in bars and other establishments. This move follows a recent Supreme Court ruling in which the residents of a block of apartments were awarded substantial compensation after having suffered from noise pollution from bars within the block for a number of years.
The mayor, Francisco Delgado, will assess whether it will be necessary to recruit extra police or hire a private company to monitor establishments. The mayor has said that any establishment failing to comply will be ordered to close and any who defy a closure order will be prosecuted.
