Nerja Council is busy with the final formalities relating to the plot of land to be ceded to Málaga Provincial Council for the construction of the new Fire Services Park.
The land in question, a 3,600 square metre plot next to the A-7, still has to be ‘assessed’, but the authorities are confident that the actual construction work on the €1.1 million project could start before the end of the year and be completed in 2009.
Nerja’s Fire Brigade, currently a fire engine and two firefighters, is temporarily being housed in the sports stadium. However, this could well change in the interim period. There is talk of moving the local firefighting unit to the plot of land next to the Burriana roundabout. If this does happen, the strength of the local unit would also be increased to three firefighters and two fire engines.
A lot of ‘ifs’ and ‘buts’ on this last point, so whether it will actually happen is another matter.
