Residents in the Plazamar housing complex in Torre del Mar are planning court action to counter problems of noise in the area.
There are six blocks making up the Plazamar residential area and nearby are two nightclubs which, the locals contend, are making life intolerable. They are complaining about the noise levels due to the fact that the young people in the area hang about on the streets, drinking, until the early hours and leave behind a mound of rubbish. There are also complaints of the entrances of the buildings being used as public conveniences.
The move follows a similar case involving the residents of the block Ipanema. They complained about the noise pollution from a bar in the block, El Copo, and the Supreme Court ruled in their favour, ordering the Municipal Council to pay €2.8 million in compensation.
