Two men have been arrested in Sevilla after receiving half a kilo of top quality cocaine through the post.
The detainees, one from Colombia and one from Mexico, are both resident in Sevilla.
Customs surveillance officers at Madrid’s Barajas airport spotted what they thought was a ‘suspect’ package, weighing about 2.5 kilos, and duly informed their counterparts in Sevilla.
Tracking the package, it was discovered that the name of the recipient was fictitious, a move to try and outsmart the security forces. The package was delivered to a ‘locutorio’ in Sevilla and the man who accepted it was immediately arrested. He then told police that the true recipient would be collecting the package later that day.
The Guardia Civil waited and, srue enough, a man turned up to claim his package, which contained a crucifix, a Sacred Heart and 59 packets of top grade cocaine. After signing for it and handing over €600 to the man at the ‘locutorio’, he was also taken into custody.
