The Mayor of Nerja, José Alberto Armijo, and the Councillor for Urban Affairs, Inocencia Quintero, have been in Sevilla to discuss the proverbial chestnut, namely a golf course.
The Mayor and the Councillor for Urban Affairs met with the Secretary General for Planning and Territorial Development, Rocío Allepuz, to discuss the (long) proposed golf course and its allied residential homes and hotel.
Plans for golf courses and the like are currently blocked by the latest district Plan de Ordenación del Territorio, or POT as it is more commonly known.
The mayor still sees a golf course as being vital to the future of Nerja as a quality tourist resort, more so under the current economic climate. The proposed golf course at La Coladilla would be capable of holding international tournaments and competitions.
More meetings are likely to take place as the project becomes more favourably received, as was apparently the case in Sevilla, the next being with the Andalucían Tourism and Environment Ministries.
