Less full terraces and restaurants in Málaga province this summer have meant less people being employed in the catering industry.
The number of people being taken on for the summer in the catering business is 20% down on last year and, although there were 1,882 people who obtained contracts of employment in June, it wasn’t even enough to counter the fall in employment in the badly hit construction section.
It also seems that foreigners, mostly from non-EU countries, hold around 31% of the new jobs created, predominantly in the catering and retail sectors.
