Six people, five Chinese nationals and one Spaniard, were detained yesterday as they were unloading 2.8 tons of hashish near Guardias Viejas beach in El Ejido, Almería.
The boat carrying the drugs had been spotted by the Servicio de Vigilancia Exterior (SIVE) and, thought to be suspicious, the Guardia Civil were notified.
Arriving at a small creek near Guardias Viejas beach, the Guardia Civil found the six men unloading their cargo of drugs. The detainees have been duly charged with crimes against the public health and are due to appear in court in El Ejido shortly.
