The Ministry of the Interior has announced that all 154 victims of the tragic air crash on August 20th at Madrid’s Barajas airport have now been identified.
The identification process has been relatively slow due to the condition of many of the bodies following the crash.
Initially, the bodies of the victims were transferred to one of the halls at the IFEMA Trade Centre ready for the identification process but the poor condition of many of the bodies forced the authorities to continue the work at La Almudena mortuary where lower temperatures could be maintained.
At the start of the identification process, most of which has had to be done through DNA testing, It was thought that some of the victims would possibly remain unidentified but, fortunately, this has not proven be the case.
