The transfer of control of the old N-340 coast road to the Nerja Council includes an agreement with the Ministry of Public Works to invest a total of €1.5 million in improving transit within the municipality and the latest planned investment is €345,000 on yet another roundabout.
This new one will be at the western end of the municipality, where the Punta Lara and Tropicana urbanisations join the N-340.
The project is anticipated to begin in October, once the contract is awarded, with a completion period of six months and it should be ready by Easter. (LOL).
In addition to the roundabout itself, the project will include zebra crossings and a paved area along the N-340.
The next major improvement scheme, once this one is finished, is at the eastern, Maro end of town where it is planned to install…..a roundabout.
There are already about a dozen roundabouts within the municipality.
