The latest statistics show a 32.6% decrease in the number of moped riders being fined for not wearing a crash helmet. In the first six months of this year, 132 people were ticketed and fined.
The number of road accidents in the municipality is also on a downward trend according to the latest figures, around 33% less than during the first half of 2007.
The number of cars towed away last year was 2,024, for the first six months of 2008 the figure stands at 600. The Councillor for the Local Police, Andrés Márquez, puts a lot of this down to better road signs in the town.
