An elderly couple in Málaga, members of the Jewellers Guild, have suffered a second robbery at their home within a period of three days and during the latest incident received a severe beating from the thieves.
The couple, aged 63 years and 61 years, suffered a break-in at their home on Sunday, thieves entering through a back window and making off with a collection of watches, several pieces of jewellery and €1,700 in cash. Indications are that the thieves cut short their robbery when the couple returned home.
Three days later, having recovered from the shock of the robbery, the couple were watching television when there was a buzz at the door. Thinking it was their son paying them a visit, the woman opened the door without hesitation but instead of seeing her son, she was confronted by four masked men brandishing pistols.
Forcing their way in, one of the thieves remained by the door, two watched the couple after forcing them to lie down on the floor and the fourth gang member searched the house for items to pilfer. During this time, the woman was kicked several times and ended up with a broken ankle. Her husband was repeatedly beaten and kicked in the head and required several stitches.
The couple were held captive for about an hour before the thieves finally left with their haul, a few trinkets and €150 in cash.
A few words spoken by the robbers lead police to believe they are from Andalucía, probably from Málaga.
