The Council ordered a man to remove the British Army flag he was flying outside his house because it was considered ‘adverising’, threatening him with possible court action if he failed to comply.
Dave Dingvean, a volunteer for the British Army Association who raises money for the charity, was told that only national or state flags could be flown. Mr Dingvean, who lives in Tolleshunt Major near Maldon, Essex, is now flying the Saudi Arabian national flag outside his home in protest. All quite legal, though, and perfectly acceptable to the Council.
