The mayor of Nerja, José Alberto Armijo, has been giving more details about the four locations offered to the Junta de Andalucía for the construction of the new Health Centre.
- The plot currently occupied by the Giner de los Rios Centre in calle Diputacíon. This is very central (to say the least). If chosen, this would put paid to current plans to rebuild the centre.
Surely this can’t be a serious proposal. Right in the centre of town, close to the Bálcon de Europa, with very limited vehicular access or, in the summer evenings, no vehicular access at all.
- The plot behind the Mercadona supermarket on the Rio Chillar riverbed. Access would need to be improved but the main problem is that the land is privately owned and a deal would have to be negotiated. Attempts to arrange a deal with the owners to site the market here have already failed.
- A plot in the Barriada de los Poetas area which should be the site of a new training centre but where all building work has stopped through lack of funds to continue the project. A new Health Centre on this plot could exploit the existing structure.
- A plot in calle Mirto, north of Urbanisation Flamingo. Of the four areas, this is the furthest from the centre of town.
Not quite as announced by the PP spokesperson, José Miguel García, in his radio interview the other day!
