Alitalia didn’t have to cancel flights through lack of funds to buy fuel, instead they had to cancel them because the workers went on strike!
Some 80 flights had to be cancelled and numerous others were delayed as Alitalia employees in airports all over the country decided to participate in a four hour stoppage. The strikers, members of the CUB Union, are protesting about the terms of an agreement reached between the government and other Unions to rescue the ailing airline which provides for the dismissal of as many as 3,000 workers.
