A young Local Police officer died in Almería on Tuesday evening after being involved in a motorcycle accident whilst in pursuit of a vehicle which had jumped a police control point.
Twenty-one year old Francisco Javier B, son of the Mayor’s Chief of Security, was taking part in a search for a vehicle which had jumped a police control point when he collided with the central reservation. After falling from his motorcycle he was subsequently run over by a passing car and suffered severe head and chest injuries.
He was taken to Torrecardenas hospital but died later in the evening whilst undergoing emergency surgery. Two days of official mourning have been declared in Almería and all Council acts have been cancelled.
Francisco Javier B. had only been a police officer for two months.
