Espanyol lost their 100 percent record following a 1-1 draw against Getafe but hang on to top spot in La Liga. Manu opened the scoring for Espanyol with a penalty in the first couple of minutes of the second half but Sergio Sánchez scrambled the ball into the net ten minutes later after the Espanyol defence failed to clear a free kick.
Getafe are also unbeaten and move up to third in La Liga pending Sunday’s matches.
Atlético Madrid have moved up to second place after a 4-0 win over Recreativo Huelva. Agüero headed Atlético into the lead after eight minutes and Maniche added the second early in the second half. Sinama-Pongolle added two more late on against his former club to complete the rout.
