Mijas celebrates its Day of the Tourist tomorrow, Wednesday, with the action beginning at 12:00 with a flamenco show in the auditorium.
This is followed at 14:00 by free paella and sangría in the gardens of La Muralla. The evening entertainment consists of a horse show featuring ‘doma clásica’, ‘doma vaquera’ and ‘garrocha’. These are the Spanish forms of dressage.
The horse show starts at 17:00 and takes blace in the bull ring.
Mijas witnessed an increase in tourist numbers in June and July this year, increases of 22% and 29% respectively, although figures for August remained roughly the same as for the previous year, mostly due to the economic situation.
