According to the Nerja Council, the owners of the plot of land ‘Los Huertos de Carabeo’ have, for the third time, refused permission to allow the land to be used as a site, permanent or temporary, for the weekly market.
This means it’s all back to the site in Almijara. In a press release, the Council has expressed a willingness to enter into dialogue with the market traders to work together to make any necessary improvements to the site in order to bring to an end the three month long dispute.
The dispute, which has caused much ill feeling between the two sides, has not been good for local residents as well as tourists and has done the image of the town, and the Council, no good at all.
