The former Socialist mayor of Nerja, Gabriel Broncano, has been elected chairman of the Associación de Empresarios Nerja (AEN).
Broncano, a lawyer by profession, was mayor of Nerja between 1987 and 1995 and succeed Ivan Jullit as president of the local association of businesses.
In a radio interview, he said that his aim was to help improve the quality of life for the people of the town and intended to be ‘assertive’ in his dealings with the various institutions. Amongst the items on his agenda are the sewage plant, marina, golf course and health centre.
