The Euribor rate, the basis of many mortgage and interest calculations, hit a new record high today of 5.526% and unemployment in Spain is now at the highest level since 1997.
There are now 2,625,368 registered unemployed, the highest total since May 1997, after September saw another 95,367 people without work. The increase is across all sectors, although construction continues to be the worst hit in relative terms.
Amongst the foreign population, unemployment rose by 18,572 (6%) and now stands at 298,870 registered jobless.
