Torrox Council is determined to solicit a solution to the perpetual erosion of the beach at Ferrara before the end of the year.
The Council say that this problem has existed for the past twenty years and they are not prepared for this situation to continue. Various meetings have been held during the past week or so and a further meeting with the Department of Coasts is planned for next week.
There are currently five alternative proposals for the stabilisation of the coastline at Ferrara, a very popular tourist beach, and the Council are demanding action before the end of the current year. They are fed up with interim measures, such as the annual shifting of sand from one place to another, and want to see breakwaters and sea walls installed which will be guaranteed to solve the problem once and for all.
