More details are emerging about the tragic case of Cecilia Natalia Coria Olivares, the 25 year old Argentinian girl who was stabbed to death on September 28th on the Balcón de Europa.
The alleged perpetrator of the crime, Moroccan Hicham B., who is now safely behind bars awaiting trial, was apparently the subject of not one, but two arrest warrants prior to, and at the time of, the murder.
Hicham B. had been sentenced to one year in prison and on June 23rd, the magistrate in Torrox issued a ‘search and detain’ order. As is the norm in Spain, these orders are sent by mail. The letter was sent in September, five days before the incident, but the details of the warrant had not been entered on the database of either the Guardia Civil or the Local Police by the time the murder occurred.
However, it seems that on September 1st, Cecilia Natalia had made a further denuncia against Hicham B. to the magistrate in Torrox relating to assault, attempted strangulation and threats. Due to the seriousness of the accusations, the judge then ordered the immediate arrest of Hicham B., this time notifying the Local Police by fax the very same day.
According to reports, the Local Police reponded to the judge one week later to say that Hicham B. could not be located, being either not at home or out of town. The warrant remained in force.
This all means that, when the murder took place, there were already two valid arrest warrants in force against the alleged perpetrator. In addition, Cecilia Natalia had made yet another denuncia against Hicham B. just twenty-four hours before her tragic death.
