Guardia Civil officers have detained a 34 year old man in Nívar, Granada, on charges of attempted murder after he stabbed his wife and fifteen month old baby this morning.
According to reports, the man suffered some sort of mental illness brought on by hypoglycemia – lowering of blood glucose levels, usually associated with diabetes. There is no record of any previous incidents of abuse or maltreatment and the case is not being considered ‘domestic’ or ‘gender’ violence.
The woman is in the Hospital General del Virgen de las Nieves awaiting surgery and the baby, who has stab wounds to the stomach and chest, is in the Intensive Care section of the Hospital Materno Infantil. Both are said to be ‘serious but stable’.
