Six Spaniards and three Colombians have been arrested on charges relating to the handling of cocaine.
The group, who received their money and instructions from Colombia, were involved in recovering cocaine which had been dissolved in a sort of molasses for camouflage purposes. It was an unusual way of hiding cocaine and made the recovery of the drug very difficult, although not impossible.
Two ‘cooks’ from Málaga, both Colombians, set up laboratories in Benicassím and Cabanes, both towns located in Castellón, and began the recovery process. Raids on these two laboratories resulted in the seizure of various bits of apparatus used in the chemical process as well as a number of firearms and vehicles.
