Wednesday was the ceremonial laying of the first (wet!) brick for the 13 VPO (subsidised) houses to be built on a site ceded by the Council in La Noria. In around eighteen months, in theory, the lucky ‘winners’ should be able to move into their new homes. So time to get on with the next VPO project.
The Council is awaiting the final approval of the project for the building of a further 12 VPO houses in La Gaviotas, which is near the Sports Centre. Once this has been obtained, and it is expected within about ten days, the application process for the new houses can begin. The current estimate is that this should start in about fifteen days from now.
The Las Gaviotas VPO houses are to be two floors, 60 to 90 square metres in area and with a price tag of between €90,000 and €110,000.
There are nine homes for people registered on the municipal census, one for someone not registered on the census, one for someone with an incapacity and one for a victim of gender violence. Applications can either be made at the Town Hall or at the offices of the promoters, EMPROVIMA, in calle Molina Lario number 13 in Málaga.
The lucky winners are generally chosen by a simple lottery. The cost of the project is expected to be around €1,450,000.
For the 13 houses in La Noria there were 807 applications in total!
