In the never ending battle against narcotics trafficking, the National police has seized a shipment of 21.5 kilos of heroin and detained four people, three Spaniards and a Turk.
This latest siezure was the second phase in Operación Cervantes, an investigation which began back in February. In the first phase, 11 kilos of heroin was confiscated and seven people were detained, three Spaniards, two Rumanians, a turk and an Iranian. The drugs shipment was discovered in Perla, Madrid.
In phase two, the shipment was in a vehicle on the AP-6 toll road near Adanero, Ávila, and was on its way to Vallodolid.
Operación Cervantes, which has now ended, has resulted in a total of 11 arrests and the seizure of 32.5 kilos of narcotics. So far this year, the police have seized 485 kilos of heroin, the value of which has been estimated at in excess of €3 million.
