The Frigiliana Councillor for Urbanism, Francisco Moyano, has been defending the legality of a number of properties built on rural land following further accusations made by the collective Ecologists in Action.
The ecological group cite around 1,300 houses built on rural land in their latest allegations against the Council. The Council, in response, says that all the properties are legal and were duly approved by the Junta de Andalucía.
The Councillor stated that since the introduction and adoption by the Council of strict new ordinances in 2003, barely a dozen properties have been authorised. The new ordinances require that any new building should be primarily for agricultural or touristic purposes.
The Councillor added that the authorities work closely with Seprona and other institutions to monitor construction on rural land, acting in cases where there have been infractions. He pointed out that the Council had issued around 300 sanctions for violations during the past year.
