Fernando Alonso has decided to stay at Renault for another two years, thus ending any speculation about a move to Ferrari next season.
Alonso was the most successful driver in the second half of the season and improvements to the Renault car seem to have played a big part in his decision. His new contract with Renault ends at the same as Kimi Raikkonen’s new contract at Ferrari, sparking a new round of speculation about a move to Ferrari in two years time.
Nelson Piquet Jr, who had a pretty rotten season apart from a fortuitous second place in Germany, has been given a second chance to prove his worth and will also remain with Renault.
