Rincón de la Victoria Council has approved a bid by the company Probisa for improvements to be carried out on the Paseo de Filipinas in La Cala del Moral.
One of the considerations in accepting this particular bid was the fact that the company offered completion of the project within three and a half months rather than the six months originally anticipated.
The project aims to convert the paseo into an important link between avenida de Málaga and the highway through calle Tamadaba and the urbanisations Hacienda Manila, Don Miguel and El Canario. The new paseo will be 25 metres wide and almost half a kilometre in length.
It will have several lanes, a roundabout, crossings and a large central pedestrian area with gardens, palm trees and footpaths for leisure and recreation. Also included in the project is the installation of new networks for drinking water, stormwater drainage, sewage, lighting and medium and low voltage electricity cabling.
Funding of this €991,800 project is through a fixed interest (0,5%) loan granted by the Official Credit Institute (ICO) of the Ministry of Industry, Tourism and Trade. Work on the project is expected to start at the beginning of 2009.
