The Nerja Council doesn’t seem to know what is going on with regards to the (long, long) proposed sewage treatment plant and is asking for an urgent meeting with the Director General of the Cuenca Mediterránea Andaluza, Antonio Rodríguez Leal, to clarify matters.
The Councillor for Infrastructure, José Alberto Tomé Rivas, said that recent press reports have stated that the project will start sometime in 2009. However, at a meeting held in Sevilla in July with the Director General of the Agencia Andaluza del Agua, Jaime Palop, it was apparently stated that if the tender for the project went out before 2011 it would be a ‘surprise’.
José Alberto Tomé Rivas added that every end of year it’s the same, reports are issued saying that work on the plant will be started the following year….but it never is.
(Once again) The Council are trying to get a definitive answer on the matter as it is a rather important project and has been dragging on and on for eons.
