ETA’s Mikel Garikoitz Aspiazu, alias ‘Txeroki’, and suspected ETA activist Leire López Zurutuza have been sent to prison after being questioned by the French judge Laurence Le Vert.
Both detainees, arrested by the French authorities in southern France, refused to answer any questions posed by the judge.
Txeroki, who is suspected of killing two Guardia Civil officers in Capbreton, has twenty-two cases pending trial, either as the perpetrator of a crime or as the instigator of a crime.
This initial hearing had to take place today as, under French law, suspects can only be legally detained for 96 hours without a court appearance.
