A 30 year old woman by the name of Nayima has been arrested in Melilla on suspicion of poisoning her daughter, or maybe even two!
The daughter, aged just two years, arrived at the Melilla District Hospital in a coma and was treated by the medical staff. The following morning she showed an improvement, but then worsened again later in the afternoon. Doctors carried out various tests and found that the girl was suffering from alcohol (ethanol) intoxication as a result of being injected with a 90% alcohol solution.
As the hospital itself only uses 70% alcohol, the medical staff alerted the police.
The young girl, in a serious but stable condition, was then transferred to the hospital Materno Infantil in Málaga and is now in Intensive Care.
Further investigation led to the discovery that a second young daughter of Nayima’s died in hospital around 40 days ago and the police are now trying to ascertain if there is any connection between the two deaths, namely poisoning.
