An Airbus 320 with a crew of seven on board has crashed into the sea near the France-Spanish border. Wreckage is said to be spread over a large area and, at the moment, the fate of the crew is unknown. The search for the missing crew members is being hampered by lack of light and adverse weather conditions.
The plane took off from Perpignan on a test flight but crashed near Saint-Cyprien. The reasons for the crash are unknown, although at the time there were high winds, rain and storms in the area.
