The Opposition PSOE has made a witten submission regarding the provisional tax proposals for 2009 which were recently approved by the PP Council.
The PSOE submit that if the IBI rate is to be properly ‘frozen’, then the amount should actually remain the same as last year and to achieve this they propose a reduction in the tax from 0.56 to 0.51.
On the question of only raising municipal taxes according to the CPI (Consumer Price Index) and fixed at 5.8%, the PSOE contend that this has been incorrectly calculated. Moreover, they believe that, given the current economic climate, there should not be any increase.
Finally, regarding the new rate for home help, the PSOE believe this should be based on €8.86 per hour and not the €13 per hour proposed by the ruling Partido Popular.
