A 98 year old woman has been rescued from the inside of a partially collapsed building in Alcalá de Henares, Madrid. Firefighters had been searching for the woman for nearly three hours.
She is now in the Hospital Gregorio Marañón being treated for a fractured femur and a pulmonary contusion and is in a stable condition, although the prognosis is ‘reserved’ pending further medical tests.
The incident occurred at around 20:00 when part of the roof and facade of the building in Alcalá de Henares collapsed, sending debris crashing to the street and injuring several people who were walking past at the time. The final injury toll from the accident is six, with four of them being children.
The five other injured people are currently in the Hospital Príncipe de Asturias in Alcalá de Henares. The four children have light injuries, the adult has a fractured tibia and fibula.
