Barcelona have moved six points clear at the top of La Liga after a 4-0 win over third-placed Valencia. With Samuel Eto’o suspended, someone else had to start scoring the goals and it was Thierry Henry who chipped in with a hat-trick. Alves got the other one.
Villarreal remain in second place, although a bit further behind now as they could only manage a 3-3 draw against Getafe. That was after being three goals down by half time, strikes from Granero, Gavilán and Casquero having seemingly buried the title aspirants.
A fightback, though, saw Pires, Eguren and Rossi salvage a point from the match.
No change at the top of the Second Division, all three of the top teams drawing. Leaders Xerez drew 2-2 with Girona. Goals from Antoñito and Crespi put Xerez two up, but a late strike from Amal and a last gasp penalty by Manga made the final result 2-2.
Salamanca drew 1-1 with Rayo Vallecano, Salva Sevilla scoring from the penalty spot for Salamanca and Pachón grabbing an equaliser for Rayo.
Third placed Zaragoza drew 2-2 at home to neighbours Huesca. Castro and Vegar put the visitors two up, but a late revival and two late goals from Ewerthon salvaged a point for the home side.
