The Nerja Council has provisionally approved Aqualia to be the private partner in a new joint venture, ‘Aguas de Narixa’, to manage the municipal water supply.
Two companies, Aqualia and Aquagest, entered bids for the project and, after various technical reports and proposals were studied, the Council opted for Aqualia. There is now a fifteen day ‘review’ period, after which the Council hopes to officially confirm Aqualia as the new private partner.
Aqualia are, of course, the company who currently manage the municipal water supply. The Opposition PSOE, whilst not against the idea of a joint venture company in principle, have been critical of the current Council proposal which they see as some form of disguised loan.
