A 25 year old man has died and his 56 year old father is seriously ill after inhaling carbon monoxide fumes at a house in Lucena.
The two men, residents of Mijas, had spent the long weekend renovating a property they owned in urbanisation Campo de Aras, Lucena. However, when they failed to return, the mother of the deceased called a friend in Lucena who went to check the house. Getting no answer, he decided to call the police.
When the police arrived, they found the pair in one of the rooms, the young man already dead. All indications are that the two men suffered carbon monoxide poisoning from a homemade stove they had constructed using an old paint tin.
The father is now in the Hospital Infanta Margarita in Cabra and the body of his son has been transferred to the Instituto Anatómico Forense in Córdoba where an autopsy will be carried out to determine the exact cause of death.
