La Mojonera is once again calm after several days of disturbances following the death of a youth from Mali at the weekend.
The stabbing aroused anger within the sub-saharan community and much damage was caused to vehicles and public property.
A total of eight people have now been detained in connection with both the murder and the disturbances.
A judge in El Ejido has ordered 28 year old Mohamed S., a Moroccan national, to be remanded in custody as the alleged perpetrator of the stabbing. His two companions, also Moroccan nationals, have been cleared of involvement in the actial killing but have been charged with robbery with violence and have also been sent to prison.
During the initial court procedings, it transpired that the incident began as a case of robbery, the three Moroccans attempting to relieve the Mali youth of his wallet. A struggle followed and it was then that Mohamed S. is alleged to have produced a knife and stabbed their victim, Malian Sega S.
The other five detainees have been charged relating to the disturbances which followed the killing.
