The Ministry of Tourism, Trade and Sports has decided to bring forward the date of the ‘Christmas sales’ as a means of helping businesses in Andalucía.
The Ministry had received a request from the Andalucían Federation of Business and Commerce (CECA) to bring forward the date of the sales as a means of stimulating consumer spending and, after studying the various legal ramifications of such a move, decided to agree to the proposal as an ‘extraordinary measure’.
The move involves amending decree 507/1966, the law relating to sales. The proposal is expected to be formally approved on December 22nd and will mean that the sales can begin on January 2nd (instead of January 7th) and can continue until March 2nd.
