The proposed 24 hour stoppage by RENFE rail workers on December 29th has been called off.
The Comité General de Empresa (CGE) and RENFE, the rail network operator, have tentatively agreed to a one year extension to the current Collective Agreement.
The CGE, which is composed of 13 members belonging to the CCOO union, Semaf, UGT, CGT, and Union Railroad, called the strike at their meeting on December 22nd after RENFE had refused to accede to their demands.
The Ministry of Development had earlier announced the minimum service levels which RENFE would be obliged to deliver in the event of the strike going ahead as planned.
