Environmentalists have denounced another oil spillage in the Bay of Algeciras, this one affecting a one kilometre stretch of beach in Guadarranque, San Roque.
The oil is thought to have come from the ‘Ropax-1’, involved in a collision in the bay a couple of weeks ago.
The environmental group, Verdemar, also criticised the authorities for a lack of control and supervision in these sort of cases, saying that only one Maritime Rescue vessel turned up to inspect the area. Verdemar are calling for the resignation of both the Maritime Captain and the chairman of the Bay of Algeciras Port Authority.
