New ‘last minute’ rail ticket

RENFE is adding a new discounted fare to its armoury, applicable to the major lines and AVE high-speed links.

It joins the existing Gold Card, Youth Card, Web and Star promotions in offering rail fares at a discount.

The new fare is a ‘last minute’ ticket, similar to those offered by many airlines. Purchasing a ticket via the internet within 24 hours of the departure of the train will entitle the traveler to a 50% discount on the normal ticket price.

The number of places will be limited and tickets cannot be cancelled or changed.

Web tariff: 60% discount on tickets purchased via the internet 15 days or more in advance. Limited places available and no changes or refunds allowed.

Star tariff: Up to 40% discount on tickets purchased 7 days in advance. Changes are permitted, but at a cost.

Last Minute: 50% discount on tickets purchased via the internet within 24 hours of the departure of the train. Limited places available and no changes or refunds allowed.

Youth Card: 25% discount on the normal ticket price.

Gold Card: 25% – 40% discount on the normal ticket price.

Buying a normal return ticket results in a discount of 20%.
