The contract for the indoor swimming pool in Torre del Mar should be awarded next week according to the Junta de Andalucía.
The original proposal was for a pool with a depth of only 1.20 metres, but this has been amended, much to the delight of the Council.
There will now be two pools. One will be 25 metres long with eight lanes and a depth varying between 1.80m and 2.20m. The second, for therapeutic use and for the elderly, will have a depth of between 0.80m and 1.20m.
The idea is to have a roof which can be removed during the hot, summer months, and be put back in place during the winter when the pool will be heated.
The project is costing around €120,000.
