The Portillo bus company has now delivered the names of 76 staff who are to be made redundant as a result of the current economic crisis.
The redundancies are spread over all departments of the company, from drivers to administrators, and mainly affects those with permanent contracts and those over 60 years of age and who are facing retirement anyway.
Portillo estimates that it lost €5 million in 2008 due to reduced passenger numbers and rising service costs.
Overall, Autobuses Portillo transports 20 million passengers along the Costa del Sol and between Algeciras and Málaga. It has 183 buses, operates 93 routes and has main depots in La Linea de La Concepción and Marbella.
Autobuses Portillo is owned by the British company Doughty Hudson.
