The Consorcio Provincial de Bomberos (Provincial Fire Consortium) has begun work on the plot of land next to the Burriana beach roundabout, the site allocated as the new temporary home of the Nerja Fire Brigade.
The facility will include a prefabricated building complete with a bathroom, lounge, kitchen, bedroom and a storeroom.
It is anticipated that this temporary home, which is costing €40,000, will be completed in a month and a half and the Fire Brigade should be able to occupy the new site in March.
This will then be the home of the Nerja Fire Brigade until the new Fire Station, which will also provide cover for Frigiliana and Torrox, is completed. Construction is currently expected to begin later this year.
When the Nerja Fire Brigade moves to its temporary home, it will be augmented by the addition of a second fire engine, a 4×4 and one extra firefighter.
